This was such an insightful read, and a reminder that any kind of recovery is not going to be easy, but worth it. I also deeply love Mary Oliver and find so much comfort in her writing. I have her poem “Wild Geese” copied into my commonplace book and whenever I need to a reminder to be kind to myself I repeat the line “You only have to let the soft animal of your body love what it loves” in my head.
